The Center for Software Technology is part of the division Software Systems, which is itself part of the Department of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University.

The (now former) head of the center Doaitse Swierstra gave his farewell oration (in Dutch) on May 30th, 2013 in the presence of many of his colleagues, fellow professors and family. A Liber Amicorum entitled Een Lawine van Ontwortelde Bomen was constructed to celebrate what Doaitse has meant to his friends, family and colleagues. You can download the book in PDF form by clicking here.

The center focuses its research on generic programming, compiler construction techniques, program analysis, program transformation and formal verification of distributed algorithms.

The center provides courses in the area of programming and programming methodology for the bachelor programs computer science and information science at Utrecht University. The center also participates in the Master Program Computing Sciences, which has subsumed the former Master Program Software Technology.

The center employs some 20 faculty and Ph.D. students. The master program starts its fifth year and now has almost 40 students over two years.
